NFL week 4

The NFL has had an unbelievable amount of injuries so far this year affecting almost everyone's fantasy teams. I think we will have another injury this week, Randy Moss's hamstring is what I am betting on. All kidding aside, I did absolutely terrible on my College Picks so I need to really shine on my NFL picks. Here goes nothing

Oakland Raiders (+4) @ Miami Dolphins (o/u 41) --- Take OAKLAND / OVER---

Daunte Culpepper is getting the start in sunny Miami and he looked sharp coming in last week against the lowly Browns. The Raiders could easily have two more wins on the year and the Dolphins have to be happy with Ronnie Brown showing signs of life last week. I think this will actaully be a good close game with the fins winning late on a FG. Raiders 20 Dolphins 23

Houston Texans (-3) @ Atlanta Jailbirds (o/u 39.5) --Take HOUSTON / UNDER---

The texans are one of the surprises of the year playing very good defense and doing well on the offense of side of the ball as well. It looks like Ron Dayne is going to get the start as Ahman is hurting. Joey Harrington tossed the pigskin around well last week, but I do not expect him to fair as well this week. Wathc for the texans special teams to make a big play. Texans 20 Falcons 10

Baltmore Ravens (-4) @ Cleveland Browns (o/u 40) -- take BALTIMIORE / UNDER --

The ravens that everyone thought would be here have yet to show up and the browns keep hanging around. Kellen Winslow has a partially seperated shoulder which I think really hurts the browns. I expect this to be a close low scoring game with baltimore pulling away late. J. Lew will be fired up to face his old team put that will not matter in the end. Ravens 24 Browns 10

Chicago Bears (-3) @ Detroit Lions (o/u45) --- take LIONS / OVER ---

Da Bears do not look like Da Bears. Conventional Wisdom tells me to pick them, but the cowboys threw all over them last sunday nigth and well thats all the Lions can do. Kevin Jones is back and that will help the Lions rush offense. If the Lions D can hold up then the Lions will be on their way to Kitna's 10. Bears 20 Lions 27

Green Bay Packers (-2.5) @ Minnesota Vikings (o/u 38) -- take PACKERS / OVER ---

Green Bay is playing out of their mind and I find myself rooting for Brett Favre. He really enjoys the game and is fun to watch. The Pack's defense is playing well, if Green Bay can start some sort of running game they will be a very solid team. Minnesota has to be one of the worst teams in the league and if Green Bay can stop A. Peterson then they should roll to 4-0. Packers 31 Vikings 17

St. Louis Rams (+14) @ Dallas Cowboys (o/u 47) --- take RAMS / OVER---

The Rams, on paper, have a wonderful Offense, but cannot do anything. Beign without Steven Jackson will not help matters, with the rookie Brian Leonard getting his 1st start. I think the Rams will get on track with their offense, but they will not beat Dallas who will do whatever they want on offense. Rams 20 Cowboys 31

New York Jets (-3.5) @ Buffalo Bills (o/u 37.5) --- take J-E-T-S/UNDER---

The jets are on the brink of being a good team. They get good QB play not spectacular but good, have a solid RB T. Jones and a good core of WR's. I thought their Defense would be much better and this good be their game to turn it around. Poor Bills, they seem to be the poster team for injuries, Kevin Everett, Paul Poslusney, and now J.P. Losman. Marshawn Lynch has been spectacular and now rooke Trent Edwards will get his chance to shine. Jets 27 Bills 10

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3) @ Carolina Panthers (o/u 40) --- take PANTHERS / UNDER---

This is a tough game to read. The bucs have been playing well and the panthers are up and down. It looks like David Carr is going to get the start for the panthers, which adds even more to the uncertainty of this game. I think it will be close with the home team pulling it out. . Bucs 17 Panthers 21

Seattle Seahawks (-2.5) @ San Francisco 49ers (o/u 40.5) --- take SEAHAWKS / OVER---

I do not like this game at all. In my mind Seattle is the better team, and Alexander is hurt and I do not know how much. 49ers play seattle tough at home and I should pick the niners but I cannot help myself. Seahawks 27 49ers 21

Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5) @ Arizona Cardinals (o/u 41.5) --- take STEELERS / OVER --

There will be some key players out in this game. Hines Ward - out, Levi Brown - out, Anquan Boldin - out. Pittsburgh has been playing smart tough football and has ran the ball very well. The Cardinals are in limbo at the QB position and I think the Steelers will bring the heat against Leinart. Warner will play in this game at some point. Steelers 28 Cardinals 17

Kansas City Chiefs (+12) @ San Diego Chargers (o/u 39) --- take CHARGERS / OVER ---

Larry Johnson is questionable for this game and I don not know if that will even matter, as he is averaging about 50 yards a game. The Chargers will be out to kill this game and I expect their offense and defense to dominate this game. Chiefs 10 Chargers 34

Denver Broncos (+10) @ Indianapolis Colts (o/u 46.5) -- take BRONCOS / OVER ---

The Broncos are not looking as good as I thought they would be. Henry is running well, but Cutler needs to step it up. The Colts are winning, not big, but winning and thats what I think this game will be. Broncos 21 Colts 27

Philadelphia Eagles (-3) @ New York Giants (o/u 47.5) --- take GIANTS / OVER ---

The Giants had a big comeback win on the road last week and the Eagles finally showed that they were alive. I think the Eagles are a really good team, but I am going with the Giants at home. Eli is looking good and I think Plexico is finally a veteran that can be counted on. Westbrook is suppose to be questionable for this game so that could be a difference maker. If the Eagles of last week show up I think they will win. Eagles 24 Giants 28

New England Patriots (-8) @ Cincinnati Bengals (o/u 53.5) --- take PATS / OVER---

If Rudi Johnson was playing I would take the Bengals to upset the Pats, but he is not and I am not. The Pats are For Real, but I would not be surprised if the Bengals pull it off. They would need to create some turnovers but I think Carson and Co. could do what they did against the Ravens in week 1. Randy moss will pull his hamstring as well. Pats 34 Bengals 23

College Week 5

Well there was a lot of craziness last week and I am sure there will be more this week. I went 6-4 in my top 10 picks which is respectable but I would like to be around 7 -3 or better.

TOP 10

10. Air Force (+2.5) @ The Naval Academy ---- take AIR FORCE---

Ok so there may be a few teams from last week's top 10 back on this list and well if they do not do it this week, then you will not see them on the top 10 anymore. Air Force has a strong team and Navy is very one dimensional rushing for over 300 yards per game and throwing for about 100. Air Force on the other hand is giving up less than 100 yards rushing per game. Air Force 38 Navy 24

9. Michigan (-17) @ Northwestern --- take MICHIGAN---

I think Michigan is back. Still not as good as originally thought, but their D will have no trouble with Northwestern who are awful. Anyone who watched the Ohio State / NW game last week knows OSU could have won by 100. Michigan will be running on all cylinders in this game. Michigan 45 Northwestern 17

8. Kansas State (+14) @ Texas --- take TEXAS---

The long horns are out to prove they are for real. They had trouble against K St last year in Manhattan and want to see revenge. Everyone is writing them off this year but I expect to see a big day from Colt McCoy. This is a statement game for Texas and I think we will see a dominating performance. K St 13 Texas 38

7. Syracuse (-1.5) @ Miami (Oh) --- take SYRACUSE---

The ORANGE looked good last week, with a huge upset of L'ville at Papa John's Stadium. Miami(OH) has to be one of the worse teams in the country. Syracuse's win last week will do wonders for their psyche and it will show in this game. Syracuse 31 Miami (Oh) 20

6. Clemson (-3) @ Georgia Tech --- take CLEMSON ----

Georgia Tech is a solid football team that can play defense and run the ball. Clemson is also a solid team that can run and paly D. I think this is one of the best mathcups this week and expect it to be close most of the way. However, I think Clemson's RB duo will wear down Tech in the end. Clemson 27 Georgia Tech 17

5. UCLA (+2) @ Oregon State --- take UCLA---

Ben Olson is fighting to keep his job as the UCLA QB as Cowan did a nice job last week. I think the Utah blow up by UCLA was a fluke and the real UCLA will stand up. Expect a normal high scoring game as neither defense is very good. UCLA 38 Oregon State 31

4. Bring Them Young BYU (-5.5) @ New Mexico --take BYU---

BYU throws throws and throws some more and New Mexico does not like to play pass defense. I do not expect to see much running in this one. BYU is throwing for around 350 yards a game while New Mexico is giving up close to 300. Not to be outdone NM likes to throw as well. But comparing position by postion BYU is just too talented. BYU 34 N. Mexcio 24

3. Pittsburgh (-7) @ Virginia --- take VIRGINIA---

Virginia is coming off a big win against Georgia Tech and well Pitt got spanked by Uconn. The Wahoos play well at home and PItt is giving a true freshman the start at QB. Pitt may keep this game close as neither team is explosive. Pitt 17 Virigina 28

2. Penn State (-3) @ Illinois -- take PSU---

PSU has one of the best D's in the country while the offense is horrendous. It may be time for JoePa to go as the play calling last week against Michigan was terrible. Illinois runs the ball and that plays to the strength of PSU's defense. Illinois has no where the defense Michigan has and I expect PSU to open it up on offense. PSU 27 Illinois 13

1. Cincinnati (-14) @ San Diego ---take CINCINNATI---

The Bearcats are a fun team to watch and are very good. They have played a rather easy sked, with Oregon State throw in there and in four games have scored 21 tds while only giving up 3. San Diego has scored 10 tds and given up 12 while giving up over 500 yards a game. Should be an easy one for the bearcats. Cincinnati 42 San Diego 13

NFL Week3

2-0 Detriot Lions, Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans
0-2 Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints

The NFL is off to a crazy start this year and I think it will continue today. I do not believe I picked many underdogs but I am sure there will be a few surprises. If the Saints go 0-3 to start the year I will be perplexed but anyway, I have a hangover and just want to get this thing started.

Indianapolis Colts (-7) @ Houston Texans --- take COLTS----

I love what the Texans are doing, getting young studs on defensive to build around and the trade for Matt Schaub was one I loved. I have been calling for him to start for years over the jail bird Vick. Peyton Manning in my opinion is the best quarterback ever. period. The Colts are so fun to watch with him tossing to Wayne and Harrison. Andre Johnson is out today which will hurt the Texans. Colts 34 Texans 14

San Diego Chargers (-6.5) @ Green Bay Packers --- take PACKERS ---

I really do not know what to think about with this game. The Packers are 2-0 because of a strong defense and the Chargers are 0-2 and Philip Rivers looks terrible. LT is due for a big game and the Chargers pass defense looked suspect against Brady and Co. I am going to say the Chargers get their first W but it will be close. Chargers 24 Packers 20

Minnesota Vikings (+3) @ Kansas City Chiefs --- take CHIEFS ---

Larry Johnson will see the ball about 30 times today. Herm cannot lose to the vikings at arrowhead. I think LJ will have a big day wil over 150 all purpose yards and 2 Tds. Tavaris Jackson is out as Qb for the Vikings and it looks like Kelly Holcomb will be in which is an upgrade altough my sources (ESPN) tell me he does not know the entire playbook. Chiefs 28 Vikings 13

Detriot Lions (+5.5) @ Philadelphia Eagles -- take EAGLES ---

I would love to see the Lions go to 3-0, I am a huge Kitna fan. You have to love him predicting 10 wins, it is just great. And for McNabb, wow he really needs to have a big game. He may get attacked inside the stadium if he plays poorly if all the controversy that he has started and the 0-2 start. I gotta think that the Eagles come out firing today. Eagles 27 Lions 17

Buffalo Bills (+17) @ New England Patriots --- take PATRIOTS ---

Patriots look unreal. I mean almost scary. I do not know how they will lose. They have not ran the ball real well but there is no need. I think they could be even better if they threw some more to Stallworth, who the Eagles should have kept but that is another discussion. The only way the Bills keep the spread (not the game) close is to hold the Pats to field goals. Bills 10 Patriots 38

Miami Dolphins (+3) @ New York Jets -- take J-E-T-S---

I like both Jets QB's Pennington is probably the most accurate passer in the NFL right now and Clemons seems to have a bright future ahead of him. If the Jets WR's can hold on to the ball they may have won at Baltimore with Clemons. The Dolphins are pathetic. I think Trent Green is ok and can still produce but Ronnie Brown had better turn it around now or Jesse Chatman will be starting and that is not good for the Phins. Jets 23 Dolphins 9

San Francisco 49ers (+9.5) @ Pittsburgh Steelers ----take STEELERS---

The Steel Curtain is back. The Defense looks amazing and if the secondary can stay tough, they will win the AFC North. Willie Parker right now looks like he should have been the #1 fantasy RB and Big Ben has faired fairly well. The Niners have looked ok but they are 2-0. Manny Lawson injury hurts as the Defense has been there strong suit. Steelers 31 49ers 17

Arizona Cardinals (+7.5) @ Baltimore Ravens --- take CARDINALS---

The Ravens do not seem like the same team as last year. Ed Reed is still an animal but they just do not look like a unit to be feared. Yes they are still one of the best but I think they are on a decline. This game will come down to how well the Arizona O-line can play. Edge seems to have gained a step from last year and Matt Leinart if he has time, should be able to hit his big WRs. Ravens 23 Cardinals 21

St. Louis Rams (+4) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers --- take PUSH---

Jeff Garcia is a very good QB. He loves the long ball and Joey Galloway is a speedster. The defense is playing well and if Cadillac Williams is healthy the Bucs actually have a pretty nice team. Marc Bulger, Tory Holt, Stephen Jackson, not many teams have a 3 headed monster like that, unfortunately for them they will be 0-3 after three weeks. I find myself rooting for the Rams but I just don't see it. Bucs 28 Rams 24

Jacksonville Jaguars (+3.5) @ Denver Broncos --- take BRONCOS---

Jason Elam will finally get a day off. The Jags need to get some WR's, Garrard looks pretty good but has not true go to guy and I still could be wrong but I would not trade Amani Toomer for Maurice Jones-Drew well maybe I would but the point is, I think he was a 1 year wonder. Broncos 21 Jags 10

Cinncinatti Bengals (+3) @ Seattle Seahawks -- take SEAHAWKS --

This is the toughest game to pick for me. I do not know which Bengal team will show up. If they get a defense they will be very good as their Offense is one of if not the best in the league. Seahawks might be the team to win the NFC by seaon's end as Hasselback and Alexander look good so far. Today is a big game for the Hawks as it is on their home turf. Hawks 28 Bengals 24

Cleveland Browns (+3) @ Oakland "Daaaa" Raiders --take RAIDERS--

Derek Anderson is not that good. The Raiders have played fairly well but are 0-2. Today they get their first W of the season. I would love to see Daunte get under center to see what he has. I mean 3 years ago he was the #1 fantasy player. Maybe he still has some magic left. Raiders 23 Browns 7

Carolina Panthers (+4.5) @ Atlanta Falcons --- take PANTHERS---

I would love to see the Falcons go 0-16, the dog curse. Carolina will get back on track after a blowing a 14 point lead last week. I like the Panthers A LOT in this game. Panthers 38 Falcons 10

New York Giants (+4) @ Washington Redskins ---take GIANTS --

I think the Giants have a lot of good players but not a good team. Eli Manning finally looks like a QB to me and I think he will do well from here on out. They need to draft all Defensive players as their Offense is ok. The skins look impressive. Cambell needs to get a little more accurate but Betts and Portis are beasts in the backfield. The skins have a nice defense. Redskins 21 Giants 20

Dallas Cowboys (+3) @ Chicago Bears -- Take PUSH--

I hate the cowboys but they look really good on Offense. The Bears look really bad on offense. The cowboys look really bad on defense. The bears look really good on Defense. Most people say they would take a great d over a great o. Bears 17 Cowboys 14

Tennessee Titans (+4) @ New Orleans Saints --take SAINTS--

I like the Saints here a lot. I mean they can't lose at home to go 0-3 can they??? VY looks good but needs a WR. Untl then they will keep a lot of games close but not win. Saints 34 Titans 23

Week 4 - College Football

I am finaly back and here to stay.....

This year I am going to give you my 10 Best Bets and then all the rest of the games, I am going to try and incorporate 1 over / under per week as well just because this is my blog and I can do what I want.

I posted my overal record against the spread from last year, lets see if I can get in the 60% range.

10. Over / Under Louisville @ Syracuse 67.5 --- take - OVER

Syracuse is God awful and so is Louisville's Defense. If Syracuse can muster 10 measly points then this should be a no brainer OVER. Washington and Illinois both scored over 40 against this team. I expect Louisville to have 40 at the half. I'm usually not big on over / under bets but this one will be OVER.

9. Arizona (+13.5) @ California --- take - CALIFORNIA

California's offense is explosive. And so is their Special Teams with 1st rounder Desean Jackson, who is a thrill to watch. Arizona is having a down year barely getting by New Mexico by 2 last week. Jackson should cover the spread by himself. Cal 42 Arizona 20.

8. Iowa (+8) @ Wisconsin ---- take - WISCONSIN

I know, I know Wisconsin has been barely winning against teams that they should be pounding and they have heard this as well. Camp Randall Stadium will be going crazy for this one as they know their team has a good shot of winning the Big 10 conference. Iowa is coming off a defeat by the in state foe Iowa State (15-13). Iowa has a strong strong Defense but that offense is horrendous. I expect this to be close at the half with Wisconsin dominating the 2nd half. Wisconsin 31 Iowa 13.

7. Penn State (-3) @ Michigan --- take - PENN STATE

Penn State has not won at the Big House in about a decade, which is almost half of my life. But anyway PSU fans have to be thrilled that Chad Henne is not starting this game as Buffalo threw all over them last week. PSU should come out throwing to establish a nasty running game with Kinlaw, Scott and Royster. Michigan's D has given up 167 yards rushing per game while PSU has given up 17 yards per game, now I know their opponents have not been the same other than Notre Dame, but this is PSU's year to win the Big 10 and it starts today. Penn State 27 Michigan 13.

6. Illinois (-2) @ Indiana --- take -- ILLIONOIS

Wow 3 Big 10 games in a row. This game will be won at the line of scrimmage. Illinois rushes for over 250 yards per game, while the hoosiers give up only 60 yards rushing per game. The atlethicism of Juice Williams will be too much for Indiana to handle. Illinois is on the rise and will show that they are no longer the bottom of the Big 10. Illinois 37 Indiana 21.

5. Clemson (-7.5) @ N. C. State --- take --- CLEMSON

I hate taking so many away teams, but what can you do. I have always loved the passing game, today I am focusing on rushing and there may not be a better combination in the country (arkansas, wvu) then what Clemson has going down in Death Valley. So far this year they have been successful throwing the ball as teams are stacking the line to stop the rush. N.C. State has had a problem with turnovers and I expect that to continue to today with Clemon's ferocious pass rush. Clemson 31 N.C. State 17

4. Air Force (+13.5) @ BYU --- take -- AIR FORCE

This is my first underdog pick and I am falling into a trap. BYU lost to a Tulsa team that got pounded last night although it was agaisnt Oklahoma 55-47 and lost to UCLA 27-17. Meanwhile, Air Force beat TCU 20-17 and won at Utah 20-12. This is the same Utah team that beat UCLA last week 44-6, something just doesn't smell right here but numbers don't lie or do they? Air Force 24 BYU 21

3. Troy State (-9.5) @ Louisiana-Lafayette ---take---TROY

The Men of Troy have played surpringsly well against Arkansas and Florid and man handled Oklahoma State last week 41-23. Troy is all about the passing game and look for them to have over 400 yards in the air. No way La-Lafayette is better then the Cowboys of Okie State. I must put out a disclaimer that it may be raining in LA today, but go with it anyway. Troy 38 La Lafayette 17.

2. Oregon (-18) @ Stanford --- take --- OREGON

Oregon in my opinion is the nubmer 2 Pac-10 team behind USC and their team is clicking on all cylinders, meanwhile, Stanford has to be one of the worst temas in the Pac-10. Oregon went into the Big House and physically dominated a physical Big 10 team in Michigan and slowed Houston's high powered offense to 27 points. Meanwhile Stanford got spanked by UCLA 45-17, expect the same today. Oregon 52 Stanford 24.

1. Iowa State (-3.5) @ Toledo -- take --- IOWA STATE

Toledo has to be one of the worst Defense's in the country, giving up 52, 52 and 45 to Purdue, Central Michigan and Kansas. Oh and they give up over 500 yards per game. NOT GOOD. Iowa State's offense has yet to get on track but do have a solid D giving up 23, 24, and 13 points to Kent State Northern Iowa and Iowa. I'm not saying Iowa State is a great team, but I see them pulling this one off and scoring around 35 points. Iowa State 35 Toledo 24.
