NFL Week 6

Welp, I did fairly well in College yesterday going 32-20, lets see how the NFL fares this week.

LOCK OF THE WEEK

Carolina (+4.5) @ Arizona

Carolina is starting the ageless wonder V. Testeverde or so it seems like way as D. Carr has been down-graded and Arizona will get its 1st full game w/ K. Warner which improves their team. I love this game.

Carolina 13 Arizona 30

add'l lock --- OVER in KC/Cinncy

LIKE IT A LOT

Minnesota (+5) @ Chicago

Chicago is still a little banged up on Defense, but are starting to get healthy, This game is going to be a battle for a 3 quarters with not much scoring, however turnovers will hurt the vikings who will not be able to throw.

Minnesota 16 Bears 27

New York Giants (-3.5) @ Atlanta

Seriously, the falcons stink, yes they putting up a lot of passing yards but J. Harrington to Roddy White is not as good as E. Manning to P. Burress. The Giants D has looked good as of late and I expect that to continue against a so-so Atlanta 0-line.

Giants 34 Falcons 17

LIKE

Philadelphia (-3.5) @ New York Jets

Which D. McNabb and eagles offense will we see? I think a good one as Westbrook and Smith are both back. The eagles are banged up in the seconary which makes me a little hesitant on this game, but I think they have enough to defeat the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS

Eagles 27 Jets 20

Oakland (+9.5) @ San Diego

This is a rival game and usually would not touch it. But, San Diego is on a mission, LT will have over 200 all purpose yards this game and their D will have a field day. X-factor in this game is Culpepper alogn w/ the Raiders ground game (#1 in the NFL), but without L. Jordan.

Raiders 17 Chargers 31

Cinncinnati (-3) @ Kansas City

I do not know about the Bengals, totally banged up alogn the Defensive front severn, but that offense is amazing and looks to have R. Johnson back today. The chiefs will be able to score and I think LT will have a solid game but not enough.

Bengals 31 Chiefs 24

the rest:
ST. LOUIS 17 (+9.5) @ Baltimore 24
MIAMI 23 (+4.5) @ Cleveland 17
WASHINGTON 24 (+3.5) @ Green Bay 20
Houston 14 (+6.5) @ JACKSONVILLE 21
NEW ORLEANS 21 (+6.5) @ Seattle 27
TENNESSEE 20 (+3) @ Tampa Bay 17

UPSET OF THE WEEK

New England (-5.5) @ Dallas

5.5 at Dallas is a big number. What would it have been if Dallas played well against Buffalo? Dallas has not given up a TD (defensively) in the past 2 weeks, that trend will not continue today but it is impressive. NE comes in with the 1 scoring offense and #3 scorign defens. Dallas is the #2 scoring offense and the #13 scoring defense.

New England looks unstoppable, but they stumble today, not having L. Maroney will finally hurt them. Dallas needs to run the ball with Jones/Barber to wear down NE and keep them off of the field, Harrison will come up to stop the run and then Romo will go to Crayton a lot today. New England 24 Dallas 35

Thursday NIGHT

started off w/ a win w/ Navy last night

Tonight is an ACC mathcup b/w Wake Forest and Florida State, being a Florida/Penn State fan I hate FSU, but I do not pick w/ my heart. FSU has a SOLID defense and that will prevail tonight. FSU is giving 6 points and are on the road. I keep telling myself to stop picking road teams but ...

Florida State 27 Wake Forest 17

MLB

I got 3 of the 4 series right in round 1.

I am going to stick w/ my original predictions of Colorado v. Red Sox in the Series.

Colorado / Arizona will go down to the wire, while Cleveland will only win 1 against the Sox.

Navy @ Pitt

Only 1 game on the slate for tonight.

I am not happy w/ my picks as of late so I am doing a more detailed system, that takes way too much time and probably means nothing but I'm am trying it nonetheless

Navy goes into Pittsburgh as 4 and a half point dogs. Probably a good line as the teams are rather even and it is at Pitt. Pitt has been turning it over a lot this year and I think that will cost them tonight as Navy plays a controlled game on the ground.

NAVY 28 PITT 24

WEEK 6 - COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Welp my top 10 last week wasn't too great, but I did do well on all the rest of my picks, everyweek I feel like I have to eliminate teams to try and narrow it done. This week I really wanted to include a lot of home teams, but I am having trouble coming up w/ 10 team I like, this could be a good thing though. We shall see how it works out. Ah Shit, I'm giving an extra freebie and posting 11 games for you to select from this week.

11. Wisconsin (+2.5) Illinois --- take WISCONSIN---

Wisconsin wins, they win ugly, they win close, they win at home, they win on the road, they have the longest winning streak in the nation. They have a balanced O that runs the ball well and have a tough D. Illinois is on the rise but will be sent back to earth. Wisconsin 27 Illinois 20

10. Arkansas State (-2.5) @ Louisana Monroe --- take ARKANSAS STATE---

Most people do not know that there is a school called Arkansas State, but they are actually a pretty good team. They beat a decent Memphis team and have a well balanced offense. They lost to Texas by 8 and are going up against a La Monroe team giving up over 500 yards per game. Arkansas State 31 La Monroe 13

9. Arizona State (-9) @ Wasington State --- take ARIZONA STATE---

The sun devils have been playing some good football this year, scoring 22 tds and giving up only 6 tds. Wasington State has a high powered offense but has no defense whatsoever giving up 24 touchdowns on the year. ASU will be 6-0 after this game. Arizona St 55 Wash St 31

8. Ohio State (-7) @ Purdue --- take OHIO STATE ---

The buckeyes are solid on Defense this year giving up only 3 Tds all year, Purdue on the other hand have been an offensive juggernaut scoring 40 or more points in every game but 1 all year. But Purude has played no one and the Buckeyes have been tested on the road twice already. Ohio State 31 Purdue 14

7. Miami Fl. (-7) @ UNC ---take MIAMI---

The hurricanes made a statement when they dominated Texas A&M on primetime tv. They are finally playing together as a team. UNC is not the unc of old but they are not that good either. Hurricans will ROLL. Miami 30 UNC 16

6. Wake Forest (-7.5) @ Duke --- take WAKE FOREST ---

The deamon deacons will not be able to show their face in No. Carolina fi they lose this game and they will not lose. Wake is a pretty good team, not great and Duke is a pretty bad team, not terrible. This will be an ugly game to watch, but wake will cover. WF 34 Duke 17

5. Colorado (-9.5) @ Baylor --- take COLORADO---

After a huge win Colorado needs to make sure they are focused. If they are they should not have a problem. Their D is very solid and their offense....well we won't discuss that. Colorado 27 Baylor 10

4. Houston (+10) @ Alabama --- take ALABAMA---

Houston throws for 250 and runs for 200 on average. But thats b/c they do not play teams like Alabama. Nick Saban will have his squad ready to hit hard and play hard. John Parker Wilson will have a huge tide for the Tide throwing the ball. Houston 20 Alabama 35

3. Vanderbilt (+7.5) @ Auburn --- take AUBURN---

Are they that good? We shall see, Auburn's D came to play last week and Brandon Cox who has been in the SEC for what seems like 10 years looks like he will finally step up and lead this offense. This is a big test for Auburn to see if they are for real or not. Vandy 20 Auburn 31

2. Kansas (+3.5) @ Kansas State --- take KANSAS STATE---

The Jayhawks are undefeated and K St's only loss is to Auburn. Looks like a great in state battle on paper, but look who Kansas has played: Central Michigan, Southeast Louisana, Toledo, and Florida International, so in other words, they have played NOBODY. K St has to be feeling confident after they demolished Texas last week. Kansas 17 Kansas State 31

1. Virginia (-10) @ Middle Tennessee State --- take VIRGINIA---

At first glance, I would think this is a no brainer, I mean who is Middle Tn St? They have played L'ville and lost by 16 and layed LSU and lost by 44, they beat Fla Atlantic by 13, W. Ky by 3 and Florida Internatioal by 41. So they have played some good teams and been destroyed. Virginia scares me b/c they have not scored a whole lot of points, but I expect that to change today. Virginia 38 Mid Tn St 17

MLB PLAYOFFS ROUND 1 (BEST OF 5)

National League

Colorado Rockies wild card v. Philadelphia Phillies nl east champ Colorado in 5

I think the Rockies are just too hot right now for the phillies. Neither team is very strong on the pitching front and both have grea offenses, although I would give the edge to the Rockies. Everyone is saying how high scoring this series will be but I think the average runs scored will be 9, is that high scoring, I do not know X-FACTOR - Pat Burrell - if he can produce then I think the Phils will win.

MVP of series Garrett Atkins 10-23 3 bb's 2 HR 3 2b's 7 RBIs 5 Runs

Chicago Cubs nl central champs v. Arizona Diamondbacks nl west champs Chicago in 4

I would love to see the D-Backs win as they are a scrappy team, but I just do not see them getting the big hit when it is needed, they will be fun to watch though. Cubs actually have a prett good Pitching staff as long as Zambrano can hang tough, Lilly and Hll will be important in this series as they both can dominate or be dominated. In the end I think the Cubs power will be the difference. X-Factor Chris Young -- he strikes out a lot and had a low BA in the regular season he needs to get hits and get on base to set the tone for the D-backs

MVP of series Alfonso Soriano 11-20 2 bbs 3 Hr 1 3b 3 2bs 6 Rbi's 8 Runs

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Anaheim Angels al west champs v. Boston Red Sox al east champs Boston in 3 (sweep)

Boston will be too much for the injured Angels to handle. Vlad can only hit, which hurts the D b/c he has a cannon in Right Field and Gary Mathews Jr. is out which hurts them offensively and really hurts them Defensively. Lackey is their best hope to win the series as he will have to pitch lights out at Fenway tonight and I do not see it happening. I think the Red Sox will light up the score board. X-Factor Garrett Anderson - he was probably thee best offensive player from the all-star break on and if he continues to stay hot it will improve the Angels chances.

MVP of series Mike Lowell 5-13 1 bb 2 HR 3 2bs 5 rbis 4 runs

New York Yankees al wild card v. Cleveland Indians al central champs Cleveland in 5

I hate the Yanks but I also hate picking against them as they are so deep w/ talent and experience. Not sure why I am picking the Indians other than Sabathia and Carmona. Whoever wins the first game will win the series in my opinion. The indians studs will have to be on the ball to win this series, should be a good one. X-factor A-Rod - I think he is the best in baseball and if he can come through in the clutch then the Yanks win.

MVP of series Ryan Garko 9 - 20 5 bbs 2 HR 3 2bs 8 rbis 4 runs

College Football WEEK 6 "pre" weekend

Went 4-6 in my top 10 last week putting me at 50% for the year which is not good. However, I did go 30-20 overall which is not too bad. This week I will have 12 top picks b/c there are 2 games I like that are being played during the week.

2. (Friday Night) Utah (+14.5) @ Louisville --- take LOUISVILLE---

Louisville is back on track. Their D played lights out against a formidable foe in N.C. State last week winning 29-10. Utah's offense is similiar to N.C. State's putting up about 230 yards passing and less than 100 yards rushing per game. They have scored only 10 touchdowns while giving up 10 touchdowns. Utah lost by 17 to Oregon St, 8 by Air Force and 27 by UNLV, and none of those teams have the offense Louisville does. Louisville is gaining 400 yards per game in the air and over 200 yards rushing. Utah will play them tough, but will not be able to keep up. Utah 27 Louisville 45

1. (Tuesday Night) Marshall (+3) @ Memphis --- take MEMPHIS---

We all have heard about the Memphis shooting and I am sure there will be a lot of emotion in Memphis tonight. Neither team is that good Marshall 0-4 and Memphis 1-3. Offenses are somewhat similiar with Marshall scoring 9 tds and memphis scoring 14, Memphis has the edge in defense giving up 14 tds while Marshall has given up 22. Marshall cannot run the ball at all, but should have some success throwing the ball. The key will be turnovers. I think Memphis will get a few INT's and win this game by about 2 Tds. Marshall 24 Memphis 35

Rest:
Wednesday
Rice 20 (+20) So. Miss 38
Thursday
Kentucky 31 (+3.5) So. Carolina 23
